Despite scientific and technological advancements, there are still no definitive solutions to a large number of the most urgent policy issues. Ongoing challenges are fundamentally rooted in the interdisciplinary nature and the complexity of issues, and the lack of interaction between academia, society and government as well as the lack of transparency in the policymaking process. Sharif Policy Research Institute (SPRI) was founded in 2008 to provide answers to these issues.
SPRI seeks to design and advance models for addressing governments’ issues and to find solutions by providing a forum for researchers, executive managers, entrepreneurs, social activists, and policymakers to engage in policy research, design, and evaluation. These activities have led to an increasing network of spin-offs, institutions, and internal research programmes affiliated with the SPRI, which often evolves with the participation of stakeholders.
Mission
Providing innovative solutions to governance and policy issues with a focus on the interactions of society, government and academia, including:
- Developing policy knowledge, based on field evidence and experiences;
- Strengthening the multidisciplinary, collaborative and social problem-solving approach in policy research, design and implementation; and
- Developing new generations of policy researchers, experts and managers.
Vision
By 2028 (20-year perspective), the SPRI will be a regional and national pioneer in solving complex and multidisciplinary governance issues.
